Listening is over rated....

Don't you sometimes wonder where the time has gone? I know I do. Especially when I see photographs from times gone by...or from last year even. The best  is remembered fondly and the worst is recalled with dread, but when you see events such as last weeks rioting you realise that what you thought was the worst can not compare with anyone who suffered at the hands of the thugs and hooligans from these terrible events. One hundred people have lost their homes ..according to the press.... all through greed! They should be ashamed of themselves for commiting these crimes, but somehow I think that shame is not in their make up. Sometimes I despair of my fellow human beings and for my grandchildren's future.

Losing the will!

Have had a few really bad days of illness so not been feeling up to blogging....still under the weather....and hasn't THAT been a load of rubbish to be polite! Am watching Leonie Pujol on Create and Craft tv just now ....she is always chirpy! Jings ...the dog....is snoring on the couch as I type...she is worse than my husband with making noises like a buzz saw :) Wee Ivy E. is growing steadily...but teething is painful and she is complaining loudly when it is hurting...she tried to eat my nose when she was visiting with her ma and pa a few days ago...just an overnight stay ....unfortunately...so every time I haven't seen them for a few days you can see the little differences in her.

Just hangin'!

Oh my word!! How cute is my wee Ivy E.?? My girl bought this because Ivy E. loves to 'bounce' ....and now she can do it all on her own.How appropriate is the bunny suit!

Easter presents!

Well, my girl and her wee family visited over Easter and we had lovely chocolate eggs from our grand daughter Ivy E. In return I gave them my quilled and newly framed picture which they really liked and were very happy in turn this made me feel that all the work has been worth it. I am now sourcing box frames to continue with this idea for other quilled crafting in the future...but I do want to do rubber stamping too ....have just received some of the Gorjuss girl stamps from Funkykits ...am going to have a go at it later this week...so watch this space!! I hope all had a lovely weekend and enjoyed watching the Royal Wedding yesterday, so glad the weather was good for all those crowds that were there in person. We are going to a car boot sale tomorrow so fingers crossed we don't have to bring a lot back after filling the car with loads from the loft.......it is stuffed with things too good to throw out but we have grown out of using.....fingers crossed. I have to get my ladders out now to climb into the loft to try and sort some saleable stuff out, bye for now!

Easter Greetings...

My wee grand daughter is visiting with her ma and pa for the weekend ...going back home today. I gave them their present of the framed quilling and think they liked it...well they seemed impressed! My daughter's partner even suggested that I should make them to sell! We'll see....... It has been a restful weekend so far.....but wee baby girl is teething and is fretful so not THAT restful....hey ho! Have to go and make some breakfast now ......x

A Little Bit Wonky......but hey-ho!!

Well, finally cut out my mountboard and used the cut away piece to centre my quilling creation but it was not too straight I'm  afraid! But, as I had stuck it down beforehand it was too late to alter it....learned from my mistake here.....next time will be better...hopefully. Have plans to present the finished quilled picture to my daughter and her partner for their Easter surprise so hope they like it. Hope you have a lovely Easter but don't eat too much chocolate in case you get sick!!!!! :)

Who said mount board cutting was easy?

Well, have been slow to write on here for a wee while due to visiting family and dog walking and other reasons....for example, I bought mountboard and cutting tools for same online for framing my quilling project [which is turning into a marathon by the way] as I want it to look good for giving as a present to my daughter and her partner....anyway....my order finally came and I toddled upstairs to where I had a pasting table set up for cutting practise. The VERY large sheet of board was cut to fit a 12x12 frame, I used the back of the frame as a template then proceeded to make a complete hash of the first trial cut. Following the instructions for the cutting tool was simple and I followed it to the letter, but when I turned the mountboard over to the right side [you cut from the back of the board for a 'bevelled edge] I found that the corners were ragged and not very neat at all.....never mind, I thought, first attempt.....ha!! After the third 'go' I was tearing the hair out and decided to leave anymore cutting for another day when I was not so fraught. Today I feel less fraught so am going to have another go later this afternoon....bye for now.

Mum's day afterthoughts

Well, that's Mother's Day over for another year.. I was given some beautiful beads and charms for my card crafting from my girl,Lynsey, and a funny card.....Meerkat's seem to be in vogue just now! But it made me laugh. I am awaiting delivery of a 'mountboard cutter' for my quilling project which seems to be becoming a marathon task.....but I will get there eventually, just have to have patience. I printed out the information  onto pearlised paper on my laser printer then ran it through my foiling machine and it was excellent! Unfortunately, when I matted and layered it onto some holographic silver card I got stuck on the adhesive and it was very 'wonky' ...not straight at all....sigh....so now I have to print the whole thing out again and this time use repositionable glue instead of the double sided tape, suppose this is how you learn...hohum! good job I 'saved' the info on my computer!! I just have to print it out again thank goodness.....think I will print out more than just one copy. I had a bit of a blowout on the old bank balance last week when Craft Robo Lite was featured on 'Create and Craft' tv. and it was delivered on Saturday......haven't had a play yet as not had time...too busy trying to clear the winter's devastation on my back garden.....more bin bags please!!!

Not connected......April Fool!!

Well, it has been rather an eventful week ....lost all phone and internet connections on Tuesday ....phoned BT....otherwise named 'bloomin' terrible'......to inform them that my phone was dead and I couldn't access my internet, was told that it was a fault at the exchange and my problem with my phone would not be fixed until April 1st!! Suffice it to say that I was not amused!! Anyway, it is working now so  I made good use of my 'off' time by getting on with my quilling project which is almost completed, ....am very tired today and in a fair bit of the old pain so cutting this short for now x

Sunday's are for Slouching and Slipper Wearing....

What a funny sort of day today is...the sky is overcast and it isn't that warm out...not cold but not comfy warm either.....staying in and watching Create and Craft on the telly weather!! Although, I haven't seen anything that I have wanted to buy as yet. Visit to Auld Reekie yesterday was pleasant, I had a wee cuddle with my lovely Ivy Elona although she had just awoken and wanted her mum to feed her so the cuddle was a short one.....mum does it 'au naturelle'....nae bottle.... so mum gets to cuddle her a lot! Gramps managed a wee bouncey-on-the-knee for a couple of minutes before wee girl let out a howl and she was quickly passed to Gran to hush her which didn't work due to previously explained reason. After  a reviving cup of tea whilst wee babs had had her fill and was asleep we decided on a shopping trip to  a nearby small retail park which had a Markies Outlet!!! yea!! bought a really nice cardie and a shirt then off to TKMAX....never been in one before and it was like an Aladdin's cave of sparkley things. I saw some really lovely picture frames which were so unusual and then some really nice vases which were beautiful colour shades.....sigh.....but, unfortunately, my pennies had been spent at M&S's...but have ear-marked TKMAX for future spending spree's when I have some spare mazoolah's......wonder when THAT will be? hmmmm..tomorrow is going to be a hard working day after day of sloth.......making plans so I know exactly what I need to be doing.....please feel free to join me tomorrow evening and I will let you know how I get on!

Saturday 26 March 2011

Saturday is for snoring....

What a beautiful sunny Saturday this morning! We [other half and I with the two suave pooches] are off to visit our daughter and wee granddaughter today in Auld Reekie ....that's Edinburgh for anyone who doesn't know what I mean by this. Will have to take more pics of  wee Ivy Elona to hopefully post on here to let everyone see what a wee smasher she is...proud gran is taking the fore here! We are about an hour away from where they live so it isn't easy just to 'drop in'  so am looking forward to seeing how much wee girl has grown since two weeks ago -the last time they came to visit-which is a long time for a babs to grow! Had my garden invaded yesterday by my next door neighbour who has cleared all my overgrown-ness of plants and is going to red chip the bare bits...the garden not mine! Since my legs don't want to work too well anymore his offer of help was greeted with my undying gratitude.....or a hundred squid.....the latter is what was agreed on....it is what he does to earn a crust so am grateful  it is getting done by someone who I trust to do a good job. Looking forward to starting on my project tomorrow and taking pics to post! Don't forget to put clock forward tonight! See you Sunday!

Shorn but not forgotten!

Well the gruesome twosome have returned from the groomer and are looking very suave! Unfortunately wee boy Barney has to lose a pound or two in weight as he has got a bit hefty around his front chest area and his rump end  is a bit too broad so looks like a doggy diet is on the cards.....hmmmm. Once I work out how to post a piccy I will let you all see what a lovely pair they are....the pooches I mean....and watch this space for my finished  quilling project which is in the planning stage for finishing just now....I have to work out what colours I want for a background and also what shape to make the information part...you will see what I mean later....I think a circle is on the cards...pun not intended....and definitely there has to be ribbons for a girly look! Will post more tomorrow- hope you keep watching!

Friday Feeling

Hello ....this is my first posting ever..........my two cockers, Barney and Jings, are off to get groomed just now....they had a bath last night, which they hate with a vengeance.....and now they are all shiny and non-stinky. I have bought some box frames from Wilkinson's to put my quilling in ....I have been working on this new hobby for a couple of months now and think I have got a 'handle' on it. This is going to be a floral frame for my granddaughter's birth in January. I have completed the flowers and just need to put it all together. Have to decide on background colour then how I want it to look when it is finished.I hope to post it on here to let anyone interested to have a look and give me some comments on improving my layout. All will be welcome!
